The Houston Astros are reportedly willing to consider offers for power-hitting outfielder George Springer in order to upgrade other areas of the roster.

Astros Seeking Big Return for Springer
Wednesday, Dec. 9
Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reported Springer, along with fellow outfielder Carlos Gomez, is one of the players the Astros are discussing at the MLB winter meetings. He noted Houston would only make a move "if the haul is big enough," though.
Springer has displayed intriguing potential at the plate across his first two seasons in the majors. He's racked up 36 home runs and 21 stolen bases across 180 games to go along with a .354 on-base percentage despite a high strikeout rate.
Injuries held him back a bit during the 2015 campaign. He appeared in just 102 games, with the most extended absence coming due to a fractured wrist.
The Astros, who made their first playoff appearance since 2005 last season, do have needs at the corner infield spots and in the bullpen. If they would be able to fill at least a couple of those voids with impact players by moving Springer, it could make sense.
That said, it's hard to see him getting moved unless the Astros truly get blown away by an offer. At a time when power bats are at a premium, a 26-year-old hitter who's got a lot of pop brings a lot of value to a lineup.
Springer falls into that category, so while Houston may be listening, it would probably take quite an offer to pry him away from the Astros this winter.
