Has Pedro Martinez Pitched His Last Game As a Met?

As of now, future Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez is a free agent. He most recently played for the New York Mets and had good years, but they were not the great seasons that the Mets expected from him.

Despite him not living up to what the Mets thought he would do, the fans loved Pedro and overwhelmed with cheers every game.

There were some tough times with Martinez and New York, like his injuries and some very short outings, but those in the ballpark always connected with the pitcher. Pedro's personality played a big part in the clubhouse, and if the Mets don't re-sign him, he will be dearly missed.

Martinez is playing for his country, the Dominican Republic, in the WBC right now. In his nation's major upset loss to Netherlands, Pedro pitched a great couple of innings and used them as his auditions for teams.

He's looking to get a job with any team and would love to play. A current favorite is the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mets were said to be interested, but it's just not looking like they will get him.

Pedro's looking for a contract similar to what Red Sox pitcher John Smoltz got: a $5.5-million deal. It looks like the Mets don't want to give that type of money to anybody. They're saving money right now, as they just dropped relief pitcher Duaner Sanchez and his $1.6-million contract.

Even though it's not looking good for the Mets to bring back Pedro, we Mets faithful still love him. He brought many great wins and great games to us, and we appreciate that.

I wish Pedro the best with any team he signs with, except for the Phillies, but we all know he won't do that, right? We love you, Pedro, and you will be missed!
