Houston Astros Finish First Half at .500

It's a shame they closed down Six Flags at Astroworld a few years ago. You know the amusement park right across the Astrodome from Southeast Loop 610.

All the rollercoaster rides at Astroworld (such as Grease Lightning, Texas Cyclone, and abrupt drop-offs like the Skyscreamer) might be good practice for being a Houston Astros fan.

Courtesy of a win over the Washington Nationals, the 'Stros are now 44-44 on the season and are 3.5 games behind N.L. Comedy Central-leading St. Louis Cardinals. On Sunday night, they swept the Nats, 5-0.

This season, the pitching for Houston has been somewhat like watching an episode of The Shield.

Will good pitcher or bad pitcher show up?

Brian Moehler, who has struggled this season, brought along good pitcher as he went 6.1 innings, giving up seven hits, no earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. He's now 6-5 on the season with a 5.08 ERA.

You have to pity the Nationals. They outhit Houston 11-6.

Well, I don't really pity them, but at least they have a shiny new stadium.
