While the season may only be a little over two weeks old, some believe that this move was already overdue.
Davis batted .480 with three home runs and 10 runs batted in in 25 at bats during spring training.
He was sent down to Triple-A Buffalo on March 23rd. The organization stated that it was felt he needed more "seasoning".
Davis was batting .364 with a 1.136 on-base plus slugging percentage with the Bison at the time of his call-up.
The Mets open up a three game series with the Chicago Cubs tonight. First pitch is set for 7:10 at Citi Field.
New York will send rookie Jonathon Niese to the mound (0-1, 6.55). Chicago will counter with right-hander Randy Wells (1-0, 2.92).
The game marks the beginning of a 10-game homestand which could quite possibly decide Jerry Manuel's future with the Metropolitans.
