The Ike-Man Cometh!: Ike Davis Is Called Up by the New York Mets

Get ready for things to turn around Mets Fans!

The chosen one, Ike Davis, will finally be rejoining the Mets tonight when they take on the Chicago Cubs, tonight at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field.

So...what should we expect from Davis’ promotion?

Well, clearly the Mets will respond to Davis’ presence in the dugout, and score 14 runs on 22 hits to topple the lowly Cubs.

This God of everything baseball will surely deliver the Mets from the evils of last place in the N.L. East and propel them to the top of the division, and the top of the baseball world!

Yes! In case you were wondering, there is a slight undertone of sarcasm in this post…

I agree with most Mets fans that Davis—along with Chris Carter—earned a shot in the bigs this year by outplaying Fernando Tatis and Mike Jacobs in the spring.

However, management went with the veterans, likely to give Davis more playing time in the minors, where he would play every day.

Of course, like management always does, the Mets have changed their minds and decided that two weeks of minor league ball is all the young man needed to become Major-League ready.

He will finally get his shot.

Is this an act of panic on behalf of the Mets, who have yet to win a series in four tries this season?

Is this a ploy to keep fans coming to the stadium for another few weeks?

Is the decision based on Atlanta Braves phenom Jason Heyward’s immediate success?

Whatever it is, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested to see Davis get some at-bats and play some first base.

I wish him the best of luck, because lord knows the team needs some help offensively.

Let’s go Mets!
