Jose Abreu Hits Walk-off Grand Slam in 9th to Lead White Sox Past Rays

Jose Abreu has a lot of power, and the Chicago White Sox rookie showed that to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.

The game was tied 4-4 entering the ninth inning. Tampa Bay put two runs on the board in the top of the inning to go up 6-4, but closer Grant Balfour couldn't hold the lead. After Chicago put a run on the board to make it a 6-5 game, Abreu—who hit a solo home run earlier in the gamecame to the plate with two outs and the bases loaded.

Abreu sent the hometown crowd—and White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelsonhome happy with a walk-off grand slam:

The rookie's grand slam gave the White Sox a 9-6 victory.

Abreu's two home runs give him nine on the season, which ties him with Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols for the most in the majors. His six RBI give him 27 for the season and put him in a tie atop Major League Baseball with the Miami Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton.
