Ravin Expected to Miss at Least 6 Weeks After Surgery
Tuesday, March 1
Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reported Ravin suffered the injury to his non-throwing arm and noted a Dodgers spokesperson declined comment on the accident. The right-handed pitcher posted a message on social media afterward:
TMZ Sports (Warning: Graphic images) spoke with Ravin, who stated a sudden stop in traffic caused him to swerve into oncoming traffic and that he struck another vehicle. The reliever stated he was only going around 20 mph at the time and that he was told the driver of the other car is OK.

He's expected to miss between six and eight weeks due to the injury, according to TMZ Sports. The report also noted he had already missed preparation time in February due to the flu and strep throat.
The 28-year-old fifth-round pick of the Cincinnati Reds in 2006 finally made his MLB debut with the Dodgers last season. He struggled, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.82 WHIP across nine appearances. On the bright side, he did strike out 12 batters in 9.1 innings.
Ravin would have battled for a more regular place in the bullpen during spring training. Instead, he'll have to focus on rehab with an eye toward returning to action in a couple of months. The fact it's his non-throwing arm should help the recovery process in terms of getting ready for live action.
Meanwhile, his absence should improve the chances of Louis Coleman and Luis Avilan earning spots in the Kenley Jansen-led Los Angeles pen.
