Kansas City Royals Receive World Series Rings Before Game vs. Mets

The Kansas City Royals raised their 2015 World Series banner before Sunday night's season opener, but they waited until game No. 2 to hold their ring ceremony.

It was definitely worth it.

Before taking on the New York Mets—the team Kansas City defeated in the Fall Classic—on Tuesday, the Royals received their championship rings.

Here's a video of the ceremony:

Diamonds. Gold. Sapphires. The perfect ring for royalty.

Each ring features the recipient's name on the side with "2015" as well as the Commissioner's Trophy on the opposite side. Kansas City's path to the World Series is engraved on the inside, along with a nod to the franchise's back-to-back American League pennants, which are also honored with blue sapphires on first and third base on the "2015" side of the ring.

Did the players like their new jewelry? You bet.

It's too bad the rings had to come off shortly after the players got them—but they had a game to play. At least now they can wear them anytime they want when they're off the field.

Or just stare at them lovingly.
