Reporters are still reeling from the chaos that ensued in the visiting manager's office at Wrigley Field Saturday.
Indians skipper Eric Wedge was attempting to field questions about Kerry Wood's second blown save in as many days against his former team when he was overwhelmed by the Guns N' Roses song "Welcome to the Jungle," also Wood's entrance music at Progressive Field.
Suddenly Wood came charging into the office holding a steel chair and cracked Wedge over the back of the head. As the Tribe manager crumpled to the ground, Wood triumphantly pounced on top of the manager's desk and dramatically ripped off his Indians jersey to reveal a Cubs jersey.
Wood, pointing his finger at Wedge then hollered, "You mess with the Cubs you get the bear baby!"
"I tried to ask Kerry what he was doing, but he just told me to call him 'Mr. Wood'," said Indians beat writer Paul Hoynes. "Also, he kept calling me 'Mean Gene'?"
As the chaotic scene unfolded, one Indian attempted to come to Wedge's aid. Noted wrestling fan Travis Hafner grabbed for a bat before feeling a 'snap' in his shoulder and hobbled off towards the trainer's office yelling, "Ow, ow, ow!"
As of last night, Wood's whereabouts were unknown, but he was seen getting into a limousine being driven by Cubs legend Ryne Sandberg.
