Tonight is a very important game for the Mets. They have won three of their last four games and they are looking to continue to build momentum.
Livan Hernandez, whose job is anything but secure, will take the hill for the Mets, while Ricky Nolasko will be taking the hill for the Fish. If Hernandez puts up a similar outing to his last one, many people will call for the promotion of Tim Redding, who has hit as high as 93 MPH with his fastball during his rehab assignment.
Livan is going to need support from his offense, who put up seven runs last night. Gary Sheffield will once again bat cleanup and play left field, while Fernando Tatis will play in favor of the hobbled Carlos Delgado.
It’s all about location for Livan, who doesn’t have the power to blow hitters away. If he doesn’t hit his spots, you might as well consider his outing batting practice.
If the Mets win tonight, they will try to sweep the fish back into the ocean on Wednesday when we have a rematch of phenoms, with Johan going against Josh Johnson.
It should be an interesting couple of days to say the least.
