Los Angeles Angels Need To Save Us From Baseball's Armageddon

The American League Championship Series belongs to Fox Sports in a week, and Fox is already salivating for a Yankees/Red Sox series.

Who can blame them? Twins offer no challenge to the Yankees based on their history against them in this decade, and the Red Sox historically own the Angels.

It's hard to believe the Twins will defeat the Yankees this time around. The Twins lack starting pitching for them to slay off the Yankees.

The Angels need to be called on to save baseball fans from an overhyped rivalry between New York and Boston.

Does anyone need to see two insufferable fanbases enjoy success? They have had enough that will last a lifetime. Plus, watching Yankees play the Red Sox is overrated.

Who wants to watch both teams foul off pitch after pitch and see the game last for four or five hours? It's disgusting to see ESPN and Fox adore the Yankees and the Red Sox as if they are only teams in baseball.

We know about the Angels' history against the Red Sox, but at one point the Angels will eventually have to come through.

Right?

This could be the year. This team has the tools to beat them. It's all about execution.

The Angels should attack the strike zone. The Red Sox like to swing at pitches, and the Angels pitchers can sense that, so they know what they should do. John Lackey and Jered Weaver possess the stuff that help them throw inside and pinpoint their control well.

The Angels rely on small ball to provide offense, and they complement small ball with  home run hitters in Bobby Abreu, Mike Napoli and Kendy Morales.

As great as clawing for runs is by being on base, home run matters more in October. This could make the difference for the AL West Champions this year when they play the Red Sox.

Last year, the offense wasn't the problem in the ALDS. It was their pitching that doom the Angels. Look for the Angels to do well offensively, but how they pitch will determine their success in the ALDS.

This Twins' fan hopes the Angels figure out their nemesis, because he feels if the Angels get by Boston, they will dethrone the Yankees in the ALCS.

The Red Sox don't have what it takes to beat the Yankees. Their pitchers do not match up to Yankees pitchers when it comes to depth in the starting rotation and in the bullpen.

The last thing this baseball fan wants is watching the Yankees celebrate their 27th championship without anyone challenging them. The Angels and the Cardinals provide hope for the Yankees to be denied.

Right now, the other SoCal team needs to finish the job of beating their nemesis.

It's not going to be easy, but eventually it's going to happen.

Now is the time.

America needs the Angels to come through.
