Michael Young: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly of His Texas Rangers Career

What more can you say about Michael Young?

He has been through it all with the Texas Rangers. The good, the bad, the ugly, to term a popular “Spaghetti Western” movie.

So what is going on? Is it all that bad?

Is making $16 million going to make him “mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore?” – to phrase another movie (“Network”), Sure looks like it.

“What is the – "failure to communicate.” ("Cool Hand Luke") when talking about the Rangers and Young’s role for the 2011 season?

Is it playing time, plate appearances, frequency, full-time DH, will he even be playing the field?

Could it be the addition of Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli that would take away from his time in the field? Or does he have a problem with whom he answers to?

Who is responsible?

According to Young in a statement after a phone press conference put on by the Rangers on Monday, he loves Ron Washington and respects Nolan Ryan. When he made those comments, one name seems to be conspicuously missing.

That person is Jon Daniels.

Is the statement of “I asked for a trade because I've been misled and manipulated and I'm sick of it.", because of Daniels?

Until Michael Young comments to that direct question, we will never know. I am trying to ask that question through his agent Dan Lozano. I am still waiting for a reply from Lozano, who also represents such stars as Jimmy Rollins and Albert Pujols.

So let’s look at “The Good the Bad the Ugly” of Michael Young’s tenure in Texas as a Ranger.
