The Braves posted an official announcement to provide details on Foltynewicz's condition:
Kevin McAlpin of Braves Radio Network indicates Foltynewicz's absence over the past two weeks isn't connected to the blood clots. He last pitched on August 25 against the Colorado Rockies.
With Atlanta already looking ahead to next season after a lost 2015 campaign, the injury situation involving Foltynewicz is all the more unfortunate. The hope is Foltynewicz, still just 23 years old, can make a full recovery, get back for 2016 and begin to realize his immense potential.
This year was his first as a full-time MLB starter. Given his raw talent and immense velocity on a fastball that regularly gets to the high 90s (h/t BrooksBaseball.net), Foltynewicz has the skills to thrive if he can remain healthy.
