Milwaukee Brewers: Good News, Bad News

Good news:  The Brewers' fourth starter, Braden Looper, is looking good so far this season.  Milwaukee won both games he started, and he's got nine strikeouts in 11 innings pitched.

Bad news:  The Brewers' first, second, and third starters, aren't looking so hot.  In a 7-6 loss to the Reds, Yovani Gallardo earned every Cincinnati run.  Jeff Suppan's ERA is a shade under 13 in seven innings pitched.  Manny Parra has been mediocre also, allowing eight runs in his first two starts.

Good news:  Todd Coffey has allowed only two hits and no runs in five innings of relief while earning two holds (saves not in the last inning, essentially).

Bad news:  Coffey isn't the closer while Trevor Hoffman's on the disabled list; Carlos Villanueva is.  Summer Charlie V's numbers: 11.25 ERA, 1-1, one save, and a blown save.  The closer needs to be better than that.

Good news:  Rickie Weeks.  His batting average is low (.257), but it's thirteen points higher than his career average.  He also has two home runs and looks more comfortable in the field so far this season.

Bad news:  Ryan Braun.  He's batting .212, has more strikeouts than walks, and has only driven in two runs.  Gallardo and catcher Jason Kendall both have more RBI than Braun, at least for the moment (hopefully for the moment, I should say).
