How can today's slate of games possibly compare to the events of yesterday? Roy Halladay's first career playoff start was beyond exceptional and resulted in only the second no-hitter in playoff history!
Meanwhile, the Yankees yet again overcame an early deficit and stole home field advantage away from the wins. Lost in the shuffle will be Cliff Lee's terrific start against a potent Rays offense. Lee was lights out, giving up five hits and one run over seven innings while striking out ten.
Of course, the story of the day was Halladay. The 6'6" righty cemented his place as the best pitcher of the game with his 104-pitch effort. Months removed from his perfect game, Halladay was unhittable.
His cut fastball was eating up hitters. The change-up was consistently filthy, as he painted the corners. The curve? It made hitters look foolish. Will any of today's games match the excitement of yesterday's festivities? You'll have to watch to find out.
