It seems pretty logical that despite potentially missing Albert Pujols' self-imposed deadline for contract negotiations, the St. Louis Cardinals will find away to retain Pujols.
Either way, there's a chance that we could be seeing Pujols in another uniform at some point during the season, or more likely, during the offseason. The Cardinals don't seem at all interested in moving on from arguably the best player in MLB, and more importantly, the most consistent producer and big reason why the Cardinals made the World Series in 2004; winning it in 2006.
With possibly a great pitching staff for 2011, it seems unlikely that the Cardinals would be out of contention before the trade deadline, but if something happened and the Cardinals decided to move Pujols before it's too late, here are a few suitors that could go after Pujols.
You might disagree and say that's not possible, but at close to $30 million for multiple years, any team, including the Cardinals, seems like a longshot. The reality is someone has to get him. Realize that some of my salary figures are not all 100 percent accurate and mostly speculation.
Pujols will most likely end up in a Cardinals uniform for the rest of his career, but you just never know, which is why it's interesting to speculate.
