MLB Season Preview: Awards Predictions

NL Rookie of the Year Award: Cameron Maybin (Marlins)

Maybin is an extremely talented outfielder who will most likely be the lead off man for club this season. He is an excellent defensive player with his great speed and solid arm and he should have about a .280 average along with about 10 homers, 50 RBI, 75 runs and 25 stolen bases.

Runner Up: Jordan Schafer - Center Fielder (Braves)

NL Manager of the Year Award: Jerry Manuel (Mets)

Manuel will lead the Mets to a division title over the defending champs Phillies as the Mets finally have solved their major weakness from the last two seasons and that is relief pitching with the additions of JJ Putz and Francisco Rodriguez.

Personally, my prediction is that the Mets will win 92 games and have the second best record in the NL.

Runner Up: Joe Torre (Dodgers); prediction - 88 wins and division title

NL Cy Young Award: Johan Santana (Mets)

Santana will in my opinion win his third Cy Young Award and his first as a member of the Mets. I think he will win twenty games along with having an ERA in the high twos and over 200 strikeouts while helping lead the Mets to a division title and a 90 win season.

Runner Up: Roy Oswalt (Astros); prediction - 18 wins, 3.1 ERA and 175 k's

NL MVP Award: Albert Pujols (Cardinals)

I don't see any reason why Pujols won't win the award this season. He will again have his similar amazing stats with an average around .350, about 40 home runs, 115 RBI, and 100 runs along with about a .450 on base percentage and gold glove caliber defense at first base. I also think his Cardinals will have a good chance of making the playoffs.

Runner Up: David Wright (Mets); prediction - .308, 34 hrs, 118 RBI, 112 runs, 24 sb

AL Rookie of the Year Award: David Price (Rays)

Price will be sent up to the rays around the middle of May and his impact will immediately be felt by the reigning AL Champs. I think he will win about 13 games while having a 2.9 ERA and 150 strikeouts while helping lead the Rays to winning the league's hardest division—the AL East.

Runner Up: Travis Snider (Blue Jays); prediction - .275, 19 hrs, 74 RBI, 69 runs, 8 sb

AL Manager of the Year Award: Eric Wedge (Indians)

I believe the Indians are going to be a surprise team this year and win the AL Central. They will have an improved offense as long as Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner stay healthy and their pitching staff should also be better as Carmona should have a bounce back year and Kerry Wood is a solid closer, which is something they didn't have last year.

Runner Up: Mike Scioscia (Angels); prediction - 93 wins and division title

AL Cy Young Award: CC Sabathia (Yankees)

Sabathia will have a lot of run support with the Yankees great offense and he will win his second Cy Young Award. He will win 20 games this season along with having an ERA in the high twos and 220 strikeouts while helping lead the Yankees to the postseason and a 90 win season in the league's most difficult division.

Runner Up: Roy Halladay (Blue Jays); prediction - 18 wins, 2.9 ERA, 190 k's

AL MVP Award: Evan Longoria (Rays)

Longoria is in my opinion the best player on the best team in the American league. He will have about a .280 average, along with 35 plus home runs, 110 RBI, 100 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and a .360 on base percentage. I also think he will win the gold glove award this year at third base and lead the Rays to the best record in the majors.

Runner Up: Grady Sizemore (Indians); prediction - .275, 35 hrs, 92 RBI, 102 runs, 34 sb
