The 2010 MLB trade deadline is fast approaching, and teams are running out of time to decide whether they are buyers or sellers.
Teams like Texas have already made their mind up, but there are still plenty of others who have interesting pieces and prospects to move before the end of the month.
If your team is in last place, expect the GM to look to unload salary and stock up on prospects. Don't think it will happen? Just ask Pittsburgh fans. On the other hand, there are still many clubs in contention for divisional crowns and playoff berths who are looking for players to push them over the edge—seasoned veterans who can guide a team to glory.
Boston, the Yankees, Atlanta, the White Sox, St. Louis, and San Diego could all pull off big moves in the next few days, and any likely move for a star would inevitably send rookies and prospects with upside to their trade partners.
Here are several situations where teams could seal their fate for 2010 but give themselves a head start in 2011.
