MLB Trade Speculation: Yankees, Red Sox, and the Latest Buzz

The everyday grind of the baseball season wears on you.

By the time the dreaded "dog days of August" are upon us, the division races have already been plodding along at a torturous pace, front runners and top contenders registering gains and losses too slowly to be worth the average fan's notice.  In a culture that rewards only those stimuli that provide instant gratification, the baseball season—macrocosmically speaking—generates little interest.

On a smaller scale this is hardly the case.  The star power that on a daily basis imbues the major ranks with an almost ineffable quality is all the more intriguing because it is a tradable commodity.  Rosters are in a constant state of flux, and the remote possibility that the teams we cherish will add player X or phenom Y fuels our inexhaustible hope for championship glory.

These hopes and these dreams never sleep, not even in April.  The diehard baseball fan lives and dies with minor wins and minor losses, always thirsty for knowledge of ways their teams can raise incrementally their chances for success.

The speculation has been running rampant since before the season started; it has only accelerated as the mercurial fortunes of baseball powerhouses have waxed and waned.

Stay tuned as I break down the latest whispers.
