I feel like I have a few months to make up for, don’t you?
Sure the hot stove league is a season in itself, but after months of baseball withdrawal, I’m ready to make up for all of it in one month.
That is why I’ve declared March as the Month of Baseball!
For the next four weeks, I’m going to be putting out a series of articles that will downright blow my own mind, so it better at least put you, the reader, in a state of shock. Whether it’s a good shock or a bad one is something I’ll be gambling with.
To start things out, I’ll be spending the next five days highlighting players I love. Next week, I'll be unveiling my five-part and ridiculously lengthy, 2010 MLB Manifesto.
In the final two weeks, I’ll unroll my division previews, complete with standing projections and everything else under the sun.
You might think I’m insane. I just think I love baseball.
Players I Love
The 10 players I’m going to highlight are all players I love in the game of baseball for one reason or another. They are paired up based off a certain common trait that I hold in high regard.
The Defensive Studs: Nyjer Morgan and Franklin Gutierrez
The All-Effort Players: Denard Span and Adam Rosales
The Cerebral Bulldogs: Chris Perez and Grant Balfour
The Potential Studs: Troy Tulowitzki and Chris Coghlan
The Unheralded Backups: John McDonald and Matt Palmer
Schedule and Links
Monday, March 8 - The Defensive Studs
Tuesday, March 9 - The All-Effort Players
Wednesday, March 10 - The Cerebral Bulldogs
Thursday, March 11 - The Potential Studs
Friday, March 12 - The Unheralded Backups
The 2010 MLB Season Manifesto
Last year, I did a crazy thing every week in which I assembled every bit of news I found interesting and threw it all together. I published it every Monday until midway through the season.
The best way I can describe what the 2010 MLB Season Manifesto is going to be telling you that it's a bunch of random stuff. I basically talk about anything and everything that comes to mind. Some of it is too small and random to write an article on, while there are other things I can ramble on about for paragraphs.
That's why it is split into five parts. You will get four big articles on four hot topics I believe need to be addressed and then something what I would call a random rundown. Tidbits, facts, interesting pieces of news, and little pearls of wisdom even.
Mostly it will be notes and opinions that I can't fit into my division previews. Because my team previews took a lot out of me and became cumbersome, I've broken them down this season and have put everything that doesn’t pertain in there, into this.
Here are the four main topics I'll be tackling.
Schedule and Links

Tuesday, March 16, Taking Stock: What to Believe About Winter League Performances
Wednesday, March 17, Trading Aces: Who Won the Cliff Lee-Roy Halladay Swap
Thursday, March 18, Boras in Crisis: How Scott Boras May Be Losing His Touch
Friday, March 19, Random Rundown: Scattered Thoughts about the 2010 MLB Season
2010 MLB Division Previews
Over the span of two weeks, I'll be running down each division in the game and getting you up to speed about what went down in the offseason.
I've brought back a few things from last year's previews, but I've also condensed them to put five teams in one article. Last year, two teams were previewed a day.
While this year's versions are more condensed, I feel like I've been able to jam pack as much opinion and information into each team. Here is an example of what each team's part of the article will look like.
Akron Armadillos, AL Central
Last Year: Finished Second in AL Central, AL Wild Card
Additions: OF Jody Gerut, 3B Nick Punto, P Mark Mulder
Subtractions: P John Rocker, 1B Joe Randa, OF Karim Garcia
2010 Free Agents: C Joe Mauer, P Cliff Lee, 3B Brandon Inge
Three Strikes: Three players that I have my eye on, for one reason or another
What's Different?: Offseason moves as well as any other thing that's changed since 2009.
Summary: Overview of the team's chances, strengths, weaknesses, as well as any other odd thought about the 2010 team.

I can't promise the intensity, but I can promise the energy. Baseball is back and that's the best energy boost in the entire world.
