With everything else going on with the Mets and their injuries, one positive is coming as we near the end of this first half.
David Wright leads NL third basemen in votes, and Beltran is ranked high enough in the outfield category to have a good chance at making the team as well.
Johan Santana and Francisco Rodriguez may be joining Wright and Beltran in St Louis next month.
All four players have proved their worth to the Mets and to the National League, but many fans are concerned about them participating for fear of injury and/or lack of the rest that is usually needed during these three days in mid-July.
Beltran, Wright and Rodriguez all partipated in the WBC this past March and helped their respective teams tremendously.
Wright was kneed in the head and sustained a pretty severe toe injury but kept going, much to his credit, the Mets were extremely concerned but proud.
I think we as fans need to back our players who are selected to the All Star Game instead of worrying about them getting injured or not resting, because chances are, they would rather be playing than resting.
Voting ends in early July, so vote Beltran and Wright, and vote often, 25 times maximum.
