In August 2006 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a car crash, the doctors diagnosed Jon Lester with lymphoma, a curable form of cancer.
In December of the same year ESPN reported that his cancer had been cured and he can return to baseball the very next season.
His return to the field was against the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs Field where hit pitched six solid innings and allowed five hits and two runs.
In the same season the returning pitcher threw a no hitter against the Royals. Jon Lester later in the season won the Tony Conigliaro award for the "Comeback Player of the Year."
The Red Sox made the World Series and Lester pitched Game 4 in which they clinched the World Series.
This year Lester's season has started to a rocky start but I believe he will pull through for the Red Sox.
Jon Lester is my inspiration to the saying "you can do anything if you try your best and put your mind to it."
