After this play, Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Starling Marte may want to try to bait runners in the future.
In the bottom of the third inning of Tuesday's game, Miami Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria pulled a ball straight down the third-base line. Marte, knowing Hechavarria's speed, conceded the double and took things easy when he got to the ball.
The thing is that Hechavarria never stopped running when he reached second base.
Marte's throw was about as relaxed as they get, yet it was good enough to nab the runner at third base.
No sweat.
Fortunately for Hechavarria, this play didn't come back to haunt his team. The Marlins beat the Pirates, 5-2.
