The Cincinnati Reds are the best fielding team in Major League Baseball, and they showed just how good they can be during extra innings against the Washington Nationals on Monday night.
Twice in extra innings, it looked like the Nationals had come up with a two-out walk-off hit. Twice, they were denied by Reds defenders.
In the bottom of the 12th inning, Cincinnati second baseman Brandon Phillips showed why he has four Gold Gloves, and center fielder Billy Hamilton saved the game in the bottom of the 14th.
The two game-saving catches weren't wasted. The Reds got a two-run home run from third baseman Todd Frazier in the top of the 15th inning, and they would hold on in the bottom of the inning for a 4-3 victory.
