Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto pitched well in the final warm up before the regular season begins. Cueto looked dominant as he pitched four innings giving up only one run and four hits while he walked one and struck out one.
Daniel Ray Hererra added yet another scoreless inning to end a very pleasant spring and surprising many.
Reds pitcher Pedro Viola gave the Futures team some hope as he gave up five runs on six hits including two dingers in the 8th.
Josh Roenickie worked the end of the 8th and the 9th for the save.
Pitching for the Futures Jordan Smith gave up all six runs on seven hits and also giving up two homers.
Batting the Reds finally found some spark to get the offense going.
Jerry Harriston Jr. was 2-3 with two RBI's with a two run homer and a double as he looked very good at the dish.
Edwin Encarnacion and Luis Bolivar each had two run homers of their own to put the Reds ahead for good.
Chris Dickerson had a tough triple in 8th which he would later score on a Sac Fly.
For the Futures they didn’t really have much going until the 8th when Chris Valaika hit a three run shot off of Pedro Viola. Todd Frasier added a two run homer off Viola in the same inning to make the score 8-6 but that as close as they would come.
The Reds now will work out at Great American Ballpark Sunday from 1-3 ET as they gear up to do battle Monday against the New York Mets for Opening Day
