Report: Manny Acta Out in Washington

Breaking news at this hour as FOXSports.com is reporting the Washington Nationals are set to announce the termination of manager Manny Acta's contract, potentially allowing bench coach Jim Riggleman to become head coach.

The reports are unconfirmed however, as team sources are stating Riggleman has not been told he is taking over the job, even going as far as mentioning that Acta has not been dismissed from his position on the team.

Interim National's general manager Mike Rizzo has been working on changing the overall style of the team, having relieved former pitching coach Randy St. Claire from his duties earlier this month.  The question remained as to who was next on the hot list, and if this report is true, Acta is that man.

The Nationals have been the worst team in baseball this season, with slugger Adam Dunn having more home runs (17) than team wins (16).  The NL East will become more competitive as the season progresses, though this appears to be another setback in the Washington season.  The team had drafted the highly-touted Stephen Strasburg earlier this week with the first overall pick of the 2009 draft.

We will have more on the story as news breaks on SportsFullCircle.  Once again, these are unconfirmed reports.
