Update
According to MLB.com, Roy Halladay will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday. Halladay experienced some discomfort during his bullpen session Wednesday, which prompted the move.
Halladay is eligible to come off the DL on June 28 and expects to be ready to go.
Anytime you lose your ace for two weeks is a big blow. The Blue Jays already have starting rotation problems, and losing Halladay is just adding to that mess.
The Blue Jays finish up against the Phillies on Thursday and then play the Nationals, the Reds and the Phillies again. Facing the Nationals and the Reds at home should keep the Blue Jays a float until Halladay comes back against the Phillies.
Original Post
Toronto Blue Jays’ ace Roy Halladay left tonight’s game in the fourth inning against the Florida Marlins with a groin injury.
After Marlins outfielder Jeremy Hermida fouled a pitch off down the left-field line, Halladay stepped off the mound and appeared to be in some pain.
Rod Barajas, Cito Gasten and the trainer came to the mound to check on Halladay, and after a couple of minutes of conversation, Halladay came out of the game.
I am watching the game, and the initial reports are the injury doesn’t appear to be serious. This would be a devastating loss to the Blue Jays if this turns into something more.
