Royals' Jeremy Guthrie, Rays Ball Boy Compete for Foul Balls

The Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays met at Tropicana Field this past weekend, which set up quite the matchup.

No, not Johnny Cueto versus Evan Longoria. Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie against Rays ball boy Bobby.

Guthrie, who is a starting pitcher, spent time in the weekend series sitting in the bullpen with the Kansas City relievers. While he was there, he put his time to good use.

The 36-year-old Guthrie engaged in a friendly battle with Bobby. When a foul ball came their way, the veteran right-hander hopped out of his seat and tried to beat the ball boy to it.

Unfortunately for the Royals pitcher, the ball boy was too good at his job to beat with any consistency:

Better luck next time, Guthrie.
