Seattle Mariners Pick Up Chone Figgins To Complement Their Speed

The Mariners are fast. T3 fast.

Team officials announced that they had come to terms with free agent Chone Figgins.

With the announcement, the Mariners have added a dangerous one-two at the top of their lineup with Ichiro and Figgins.

In addition to obtaining Franklin Gutierrez last year and bringing up Michael Saunders, the Mariners have speed.

Throw Ichiro into the mix, and you have four guys who will burn up the base-paths.

Throw in some power and the awesomeness of Ken Griffey, Jr., and you've got yourself a contending ball club.

Following Cy Young runner-up Felix Hernandez and their maturing staff, the Mariners will build off of last season, besting their 85-win comeback season, and, at the very least, battling all year.

The aforementioned pitching may take some time to come around, but I say let them develop into the pitchers who they have the potential to be (Fister, Snell, Morrow).

And this year, PITCH MORROW IN SPRING TRAINING.

I still can't believe that management pitched him in the major leagues after only 13 innings during the spring.

Morrow can be great, Fister is brilliant at times, Snell is capable, and Rowland-Smith can give you quality innings.

They probably need time to develop, but they can do it.

Felix Hernandez. 'Nuff said.

The Mariners will get after it in the spring and be ready in April.

Be afraid, American League West, be very afraid.

PS: Don, unless something terrible happens do not start the following: CARLOS SILVA, Garret Olson, or Jason Vargas. Thank you. That is all.
