Kansas rolls into town for a three game series against the Rays. Since Tampa is playing better, we are dropping the Devils for the time being. The Rays looked strong against the Twins, taking two out of three.
However, playing in the AL East means that they need to sweep teams such as the Twins and Royals. Plus, we do not have to see Zack Greinke.
Probable Starters:
Kyle Davies, RHP (2-4, 5.09) vs Andy Sonnanstine, RHP (3-5, 7.66)
TBA vs Jeff Niemann, RHP (4-4, 4.44)
Gil Meche, RHP (2-5, 4.33) vs James Shields, RHP (4-4, 3.53)
What to Watch for:
Tampa needs to get on a roll, and fast. We understand that, without Aki and Bartlett, we are not as good, but Tampa has the depth to fill those positions with enough good people to beat this team. Reid Bringac, Willy Aybar, and Zorilla have seen most of the time up the middle so far and are doing a decent job.
With Matt Joyce’s promotion and his home run yesterday, I would expect to see him get most of the time in RF for the rest of the season. Plus, I hate the Gabes.
Either B.J. Upton needs to start swinging a better bat, or I am going to start a petition for a new leadoff hitter. Batting .204 in that spot is horrible.
X-Factor:
Today’s day off is huge for a team that just had forty games in forty one days. One day of rest can go a long way, especially for those players struggling at the plate (read: Upton).
