Miller Trade Could Be Key To Rebuilding Braves' Lineup
Atlanta has done a terrific job of accumulating young pitching as it retooled the farm system over the past couple of years. Eight of the team's top 10 prospects are currently pitchers, according to MLB.com's Prospect Watch.
The Braves finished last in the league in runs scored and lack hitting depth in the minor leagues, however. So eventually, the front office will need to move some of its pitching in order to bolster the lineup in a significant way.
Miller, who joined Atlanta from the St. Louis Cardinals prior to last season, posted a 3.02 ERA with 171 strikeouts in 205.1 innings in 2015. Those numbers combined with the fact that he's still just 25 should make him an attractive trade chip.
A deal didn't get done with the Diamondbacks, but it sounds like Miller could be on the move if the right hitter becomes available to the Braves.
