Take It Easy, Tough Guy (I'm Looking at you Brian Bruney/Fransisco Rodriguez)

Yesterday, before the Yankees walloped the Mets (very nice, I like), there was a bit of a tussle in the outfield. As anybody who cares knows, the confrontation was the culmination of two whiny jocks pretending to be tough.

Brian Bruney lambasted Fransisco Rodriguez for his excessive celebration on the mound. I agree that the excessive celebration (I'm looking at you Joba, Papelbon etc.) has got to go, but take it to him on the field.

Calling K-Rod out in an interview is cowardly and a desperate cry for attention.

K-Rod is also at fault. It's awfully easy to be a tough guy in an interview, and it's even easier to go after someone with 24 of your best friends around you.

Not to say that Bruney is outnumbered in this situation, but really? Is it necessary to instigate a brawl? Get over yourself, dude.

Brian Bruney has a long way to go before he gets anywhere near what you've accomplished, and that should speak for itself.

Some guys need to just shut up and play the game. Let's get back to basics. Let your work on the field do the talking. Prove your legitimacy through performance and not through your big mouth or posturing.

Stop posing for home runs, stop jumping around the mound like an idiot, and stop talking smack in newspapers. Have some fun out there, I wish I could do what you do for a living.
