How do you respond if you win 85 games and finish tied for third in your division?
Well, if you’re the New York Yankees, you respond by spending half a billion dollars in hopes of making sure it doesn’t happen again.
That’s indeed how the Bronx Bombers spent the winter, notably dishing out the big bucks to Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann, Carlos Beltran and Masahiro Tanaka. Thanks in large part to these new additions, the Yankees are looking good for 2014.
Good, yes, but not perfect. The Yankees are still a flawed team. They still have needs. Glad to tell you about the big ones is MLB Lead Writer Zachary D. Rymer, who is particularly unenthused about the Yankees' bullpen, their rotation after Hiroki Kuroda and their infield outside of Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira.
