Tim Beckham's Batting Practice Home Run Breaks Rays Teammate's Car Windshield

Tampa Bay Rays minor leaguer Tim Beckham wants to put on a show this spring, but he might want to try to keep the ball in the field of play during batting practice first.

On Monday, Beckham—who has 35 career home runs in seven seasons in the minors—clubbed one over the left field wall during batting practice. It found a nice landing spot right on Rays pitcher Drew Smyly's car windshield.

That could turn out to be a costly swing.

As the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin tweeted, the 25-year-old infielder is hoping he doesn't have to pay to replace the windshield.

Beckham, a former No. 1 overall pick, is hoping he can make Tampa Bay's roster this season. If Beckham finds his way onto the Rays' 25-man roster this spring, Smyly may have to give him some rookie duties to do as payback.
