A.J Hinch was the President of Player Developement, before he was hired as head coach of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Bob Melvin lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to thier first divison title in five years when he was hired, before he was fired by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Not much of a difference right? Well thier wasnt supposed to be a difference, as President of Player Development your job is to make sure that the minor league players get developed right so that they can be money in the big leagues.
Seven out eight of the Diamondback players in the starting linup were in the D-backs minor league system sometime in the last four years. Look at the stats of some of these palyers with AJ Hinch and Bob Melvin.

Justin Upton: HR:6, RBI's:16, SB:2,AVG:.294/ HR:8, RBI's:29, SB:8, AVG:.320
Note: Mark Reynold's is 8 HRs away from his carear high, and is third in the MLB in HR's. Justin Upton is 14th in batting average.
He has also brought up players he is familiar with like Gerrardo Parra who is second in the league in triples in only 42 games.
With all due respect to Bob Melvin, I think hiring A.J Hinch was a good decision. They brought up A.J Hinch so that he could help develope the D-backs young roster, and so far it has worked. Bob Melvin deserves to have a stating job on any team in the MLB, just not on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
