Will the Marlins Pursue Jamie Moyer?

Many Marlins fans have already realized that starting pitching is extremely important to win and get to the playoffs, and the lack of consistent pitching was the reason the Marlins couldn't get to the Playoffs this year.

I know this may seem far fetched but Jamie Moyer, who had a mediocre year with the Phillies, could be a good fit for the Marlins.

The Marlins need a veteran anchor in the rotation who has experience, and who better than the 46 year old veteran.

The Phillies already have a surplus of pitching. They have Hamels, Lee, Blanton, J.A. Happ, Pedro Martinez, Kyle Kendrick, and Drabek, a prospect who is bound to get a few starts in 2010. All of these starters make it seem as if Moyer won't even have a chance to take part in the rotation.

Since there is one year left in his contract with the Phils it makes sense for them to trade him for maybe some Bullpen Help.

The soft tossing lefty has been a Marlins Killer ever since arriving to the NL East, and he is unbeaten at Land Shark Stadium going 8-0 and posting an ERA of 1.37 in 52.7 innings.

The Marlins need to have an end of the rotation pitcher who can eat up some innings, to give some prospects Like Andrew Miller and Sean West more time to mature in the Minor Leagues.

All of this is pure fan speculation, but imagine what this rotation would look like:

Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco, Anibal Sanchez, (Vanden-Hurk-Volstad ), Jamie Moyer.

With the knowledge and experience of Moyer he could mold these young starters into professionals and better pitchers. 

I'm sure that Jamie Moyer is not the only candidate to take a spot in the rotation, but if I were General Manager I would without a doubt try and get him.

In my mind the trade would involve trading maybe a Brian Sanchez (RHP) with Dan Meyer (LHP) to get Moyer.

In my opinion Moyer offers a lot to a young club like the Marlins. Even though he may be old, he still has something in him that could help the marlins win games.
