The Yankees sat through two rain delays before they lost to the Kansas City Royals by a score of 4-3.
Here are some notes:
- Dustin Moseley went 4.1 innings and allowed all four runs.
- The Yankees liked what they saw from Curtis Granderson on Thursday so they put him in the No. 2 hole yesterday.
- Nick Swisher was benched because of the heat.
- Alfredo Aceves made a rehab start last night in Double-A. He threw two innings, allowed no runs, one strikeout, and no walks.
- El Duque, Orlando Hernandez, pitched againt the Trenton Thunder yesterday. He’s attempting a comeback at age 44 with the Washington Nationals.
- The Yankees signed 2nd round pick Angelo Gumbs, OF, for $750,000.
- They also signed 9th rounder Taylor Morton, RHP, for $450,000.
I did not stay up for the entire game last night. Since they sat through a nearly three hour rain delay I’m really glad I didn’t. There is something about these Yankees-Royals games. It seems like almost every one gets some rain. The two sides are back at it tonight with Phil Hughes (13-5, 3.92) going up against Sean O’Sullivan (1-3, 5.05).
