Yankees-Rays: Grading the Shut Out N.Y. Club

I had to edit this article all over again because editor John Mccurdy made me look like a fool and he made me look stupid. Thank you John. Do me a favor and stay away from my articles.

You can't win every game in spring training, and the Yankees didn't have their best players playing. They lost to the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 5-0.

Here are my individual player performance grades:

You can’t win every game in spring training and the Yankees didn’t have their best players playing. The Yankees lost to the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 5-0.

B—Brett Gardner

He got on base twice but was also caught stealing. He did what a lead off hitter is supposed to do and that’s get on base. He did the job.

B—Robinson Cano

He got on base twice with 2 base hits. I didn’t draft him in fantasy baseball this year because I have no confidence in him.

C+—Alfredo Aceves

I wasn’t sure what to give him. He pitched 2.2 innings and gave up an earned run. If he pitched 3 whole innings I would of bumped his grade up to a B. I’m not sure what Joe Girardi is thinking when it comes to roster spots or if this performance was good enough for him to make the team.

C—Kei Igawa

I’ve seen Igawa do this a lot last year in the minors. In some games he’ll strike out a lot of batters but he’ll also walk a lot. He struck out 4 batters, walked 4 batters and gave up 4 hits. That’s a lot of base runners. The bottom line is that he only let in 1 earned run in 2.2 innings.

F—Xavier Nady

He went 0-for-3 yesterday as well but I gave him a D grade because he didn’t strike out. Well he struck out today and that warrants an F grade.

F—Cody Ransom

He went 0-for-3 with a strike out and he made 2 fielding errors which caused 2 unearned runs to score. If there was ever a performance that deserved lower than an F, this one was it.

When the regular season starts, I’ll be posting a disgraceful player of the game after the Yankees lose. When they win, it’s just going to be called player of the game.
