Not only did Michael Young have to spend his Spring Training learning an entirely new position, but now he is dealing with a left quadriceps injury that continues to nag him.
This past weekend he missed back-to-back games after feeling some tightness in his left quad. On Tuesday he returned to the lineup, but was only able to last one inning.
After singling in the top part of the first inning and then playing the field in the bottom part, he was pulled from the game.
The team officially stated that Young had re-aggravated the muscle, but there is no concern that this is either a serious injury or will bother him throughout the season.
Manager Ron Washington said that Young was going to be a day-to-day decision and that they were going to try again today to see how he feels.
A frustrated Young also added that he wants to get back out on the field to continue working at third and get back in the grove for the start of the season.
But he also said that it is more important that he limit his work in Spring Training if it will benefit him being 100 percent for the start of the season.
