The 2010 New York Mets: Not a Team to Believe in

After a disgraceful 1994 season, the Mets ran a campaign about how things would be different in 1995. Then-Mets manager Dallas Green promised his team would play hard and do whatever it would take to win.

Green felt compelled to do that, attempting to sell fans on the idea of a changed culture within the team. The Mets embarrassed themselves with off-the-field incidents, while adding to the mess by losing almost every day.

This year's Mets decided to do the same thing. They talked about how they believe and how this year will be different.

2010 A.L. West Preview: Is Moneyball Dead and Buried in Oakland?

After years of being a seller, A’s GM Billy Beane spent the winter of 2008-09 in the uncharacteristic role of buyer, adding OF Matt Holliday (via trade) and 1B/DH Jason Giambi (via free agency).

At this time last winter I wrote the moves “(had) placed the organization in a position where it can either compete for the division title or, if the team is non-competitive in mid-summer, flip soon-to-be-free-agent Holliday for prospects at the trade deadline.”

Aaron Harang: Cincinnati Reds Hurler Horrific of Late

When is a 9.88 a good thing?

When you're taking a test out of 10 points. When you're an Olympic ice skater. When it's your 100-meter dash time.

When is it a bad thing?

It's certainly a bad thing if we are talking about ERA.

The 9.88 ERA belongs to Cincinnati Reds "ace" Aaron Harang—the same guy who will be tying an all-time Reds record for Opening Day starts on Monday with five.

The season hasn't even started, and I'm already hitting the panic button on Harang.

CBS Commissioner: Looking For Value? Take an Arizona Diamondback

As I mentioned in my first article introducing the Bleacher Report Professional League, I will be writing updates on the league regularly about transactions, the draft, and results throughout the season. Tomorrow night is the draft, and I will be recapping the results afterwards, here is a link to the league:

Creating the Perfect Baseball Player Using Active Players Only

They say nobody's perfect.

That may be true, but that won't stop me from trying to create the perfect baseball player.

In this article I will combine players with specific talents to create the perfect baseball player.

P.S.: I want to apologize to Mo Vaughn in advance (you'll find out why momentarily).

Anderson was scheduled to attend college and play ball at U-Cal, Berkeley after starring for TEAM USA during the 2005 PanAm Championships and leading California high schoolers in home runs in 2006.

While he had the talent to be a first round or first round supplemental pick in the ‘06 draft, the commitment to Berkeley caused many teams to shy away.

2010 NL East Preview: Phillies Should Win Third Straight Pennant

The Phillies made a valiant attempt to defend their championship last season, but came up shy as they eventually fell to the Yankees in the World Series. Nonetheless, the loss to the Bronx Bombers should not diminish the club’s accomplishments during the season—an NL East title (with a 93-69 record) and a second straight National League pennant.

Victoria Seals Field Manager Bret Boone Has New Assistants

The Victoria Seals are having an all-star offseason so to speak.

While first year manager Darrell Evans was terminated, the Seals did not take long in finding his replacement.

The Seals hired former all-star second baseman Bret Boone to lead the club into the 2010 season.

Everyone is familiar with Boone’s accomplishments;
