We are now just one week away from the 2016 MLB trade deadline, and the rumor mill is in full swing as all 30 teams decide what to do ahead of the Aug. 1 non-waiver deadline.

With four of the top six teams in our rankings from a week ago posting a losing record last week, there was plenty of shuffling among the league's top teams in this week's MLB power rankings.

Only time will tell if any of the players on this week's All-Dud team will one day have a chance of joining Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza in the hallowed halls of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. With the way this group swung the bat and threw the ball this week, the odds aren't in their favor.

With time running out until MLB's non-waiver trade deadline, nearly half of the league is sandwiched together atop the standings.

Fourteen teams have accumulated at least 50 victories. Shortly before the non-waiver trade window shuts on Aug. 1, a clear line divides the contenders and pretenders. Given the parity at the top, every playoff hopeful can convince itself that one or two shrewd moves will catalyze a championship run.

The goal in any trade, in any sport, is for both teams to walk away happy with what they got in the deal. It'd be insane for a team to make a trade intending to walk away in worse shape than they were before. 

That's our goal here—to craft deals that benefit both teams.
