2009 MLB All-Star Game

2009 MLB All-Star Game

Live Blog: MLB All-Star Game

It’s been awhile since I have done a live blog, so what better time to do one than the 80th All-Star game in St. Louis.
I have always been a big fan of the All-Star game, so this should be fun. I am just praying this game does not go deep into extra innings like last year’s game.

Game – American League vs. National League

Date – 7/14/09

Stan Musial Highlight of All-Star Game

The highlight of the All-Star Game was when Stan Musial rode onto the field during the pregame ceremonies.

I grew up listening to the Cardinals play on KMOX radio out of St. Louis in Louisiana. The station would fade in and out during the broadcasts of those games, but Musial stands out as the player I remember the most.

After so much talk about the Cardinals fans being so great even with visiting players, they booed Ted Lilly pitcher for the Cubs lustily when he was introduced.

Well it's that time of the year. Players rest. Minds are eased. A meaningless game is televised by Fox as fans listen to McCarver rant.

MLB ASG: Is Home-Field Advantage In The WS Such a Bad Idea?

After witnessing one of the oddest sights in all of sports in 2002—a baseball game ending in a tie—MLB Commissioner Bud Selig elected to make a change to the "Mid-Summer Classic."

From 2003 onward, the winning league in the MLB All-Star Game would get home-field advantage for their World Series representative come October.

However, the decision to award home-field advantage to the victor of the ASG has been met mostly with criticism.

Pablo Sandoval and NL All-Star Snubs: It's Your Time, but Manuel Says Otherwise

"Feel the wind and set yourself a bolder course...you'll sail the perfect line...in your time."

—Bob Seger, "In Your Time"

It should have been this year, 2009, but it's coming for Pablo Sandoval.  Sooner or later, he will get his due and the entire baseball world will realize how special this player is.  Until then, I'll do my best to hasten that day's arrival.

With that in mind...

What's the matter, Charlie Manuel?  Couldn't figure a way to get Matt Stairs and Carlos Ruiz on the team?

Critiquing the 2009 MLB All-Star Selections: NL Edition

If you haven’t read I gave you my take on the American league all star rosters. For the most part I thought the fans got it right. So why not do the National league, I’ll give you guys my take on how the fans did in the National league voting.

Adam Jones: Why the Orioles Must Sign Their Newest All-Star to a Long-Term Deal

On Sunday, July 5, it was announced that Orioles center fielder Adam Jones would represent his team in St. Louis, at the All Star Game. The 23-year old outfielder has made his mark so far, with a .308 average, 12 home runs, 46 RBI, 91 hits, a .364 on base percentage, and 17 doubles.

Three LA Dodgers Added to All-Star Roster, Kemp Still In Running

Three members of the National League West leading Los Angeles Dodgers have been selected to join the National League All-Stars for July 14th contest in St. Louis at Busch Stadium.

Closer Jonathan Broxton, starting pitcher Chad Billingsley, and second baseman Orlando Hudson are on the NL roster, with outfielder Matt Kemp still under consideration as one of the five finalists for the last spot on the roster.

American League All Stars: Who Should Start

The votes are coming fast and furious.

It’s the annual debate of who should be an starter in the All Game versus those who are being voted by you, the fans.

Yes, it’s that time where Major Leaguers who shouldn’t be selected by the fans, are.

People like Manny Ramirez, who was a leading candidate in the outfield for the National League after being suspended 50 games for PED's. Then once the outrage began, he mysteriously fell to sixth.

Or the injured Josh Hamilton.

Today we will take a look at the American League voting.

Do the fans have it right? Let’s take a look:
