Baltimore Orioles' Future Looks Bright

The O's are coming at'cha!

As a Red Sox fan I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I can’t wait for the day the Baltimore Orioles are good again.

I don’t know why, but there’s something about an Orioles team being relevant again that excites me.

It may be because I remember watching the Orioles in the playoffs in the mid-'90s and the electricity in Camden Yards was amazing.

Or, it might because the Oriole is my favorite bird—yeah, I think I’ll go with the former.

Game Three: New York Yankees at Baltimore Oriole's—Don't Get Swept

Are the Yankees That Bad, Or Are the Orioles That Good?

Much is being made about the New York Yankees’ terrible start to the season, specifically the epic fail of their top two pitchers in their opening series against the Baltimore Orioles.

I get that the Yankees are the flagship franchise of Major League Baseball, so their struggles become instant ammunition for angry white journalists to fire off in prematurely-damning columns.

But is this really a question of the overpaid Yankees being that terrible, or the Baltimore Orioles being a much-improved club?

Why Colin Cowherd is Right About Orioles Fans

Don't Worry about CC and Tex!

CC Sabathia and Mark Teixeira had two horrendous opening days, but are you honestly going to start freaking out about them? I hope not.

Their performances yesterday were nothing like what these players are used to doing. Sabathia walked five batters yesterday, and he averaged 2.1 walks per nine innings last season. Teixeira went 0-for-4 with five runners left on base, and Teixeira drove in 121 runs last season.

CC Sabathia is Overrated

I knew this would happen. I have been wanting to write a piece on how I thought CC Sabathia’s season last year was overrated, but haven’t gotten around to it.
After last night’s four-inning, six earned run performance, I knew I had to make time. I am a Yankee fan living in Canada, but I did not like the seven-year deal that the Yankees gave CC Sabathia.

I did not really understand the reasoning behind experts who were giving CC Sabathia Cy Young or MVP votes last season.

Johnny Damon's Catch: Where Was the Replay?

Major League Baseball instituted a new rule allowing the umpires to watch instant replays of controversial home run calls last season. I’m wondering if that rule has carried over into 2009.

Last season, Alex Rodriguez hit a home run that looked like it was easily fair at the time, but the umpires took an extra five minutes to check it out.

Next Stop: Houston for the Chicago Cubs

The Cubs leave New York for Houston this afternoon to play the season opener Monday, having taken a pair of good old-fashioned beatdowns at the hands of the Yankees.

New Yankee Stadium Inspires, Looks to the Future and Remembers the Past

So, how was your cool, damp Friday night?

Good?

Mine was better.

After six stifling hours of class, subsisting on cheap sushi and stuff you get out of the vending machine, my friend Brent and I headed to the New Yankee Stadium to catch the exhibition Cubs-Yankees game.
