Making Sense of Alex Rodriguez and No. 600

Alex Rodriguez hit a home run yesterday.

Alex Rodriguez: Justice for A-Rod and His Baseball Career

It is no secret that Alex Rodriguez admitted to using performance enhancing drugs while with the Texas Rangers.

After he was outed by Sports Illustrated's Selena Roberts, he confessed.

I am one of the few people that believe that steroids do not help you center a baseball and hit home runs, but what it does do is help your recovery time and give you more energy throughout the season.

So, are the home runs tainted?  Yes, some of them are.

State of the New York Yankees: August 5, 2010

Speaking in present terms, yesterday afternoon's game in the Bronx may have been one of the biggest games for the Yankees this season.

If you haven't heard yet, Alex Rodriguez finally hit his 600th career home run, snapping his 0-17 hitless streak after 12 straight games without a home run.  He also became the youngest player ever to join the 600 club (35 years and eight days old).  It is fair for one to call it quite an accomplishment.

Alex Rodriguez Hits Number 600, but Nobody Seems To Care

The effect of the steroid era and the constant investigations that ensued were certainly evident after today's Yankees-Blue Jays game.

Alex Rodriguez reached a precious milestone today against the Toronto Blue Jays in the first inning, but the home run is hardly receiving the same amount of attention that sluggers such as Barry Bonds received.

Rodriguez became only the seventh player of all time to reach that mark, and also became the youngest player to do so.

Alex Rodriguez Ice Cold Since Homer No. 599

Alex Rodriguez has had a down year for himself this season, but his numbers during his most recent slump, since he’s hit home run No. 599, have been dragged down even further.

Here’s how A-Rod has done since hitting homer no. 599:

Fantasy Baseball's Home Stretch

With baseball's trading deadline in the rearview mirror, it's time for fantasy owners to move on to more pressing matters; mainly, to focus on their own league's cut-off date for trades and transaction.

Commonly, fantasy deadlines are situated somewhere in the second or third week of August. (Although if your league bares any resemblance to mine, the REAL trade deadline has triggered an abundance of swaps in the past week.)

State of the New York Yankees: August 4, 2010

Even after an early Mark Teixeira home run (23), Ricky Romero and the Toronto Blue Jays were too much for the New York Yankees.

As of today, the Yankees have lost three consecutive games, four of their last five.  But yesterday, they lost something more.

The division lead.

With an 8-2 Yankee loss to the Blue Jays, and a Tampa bay 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins, the Rays have taken the division lead from the Yankees, a spot the Yankees have held since June 12.

Alex Rodriguez, Stuck at 599, Goes for 600 at Yankee Stadium...Again!

The New York Yankees and Alex Rodriguez wrapped up their road trip Sunday with a disappointing loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.

Equally as disappointing (especially for Rays fans looking to cash in on catching A-Rod’s 600th home run ball) was that A-Rod was not in the starting lineup and struck out in his only at-bat.
