2010 Yahoo Fantasy Sleepers Draft Guide

This is my second time writing my Yahoo Fantasy Sleeper Guide (if you would like to see how I did last year, here is a link http://bleacherreport.com/articles/139285-yahoo-fantasy-baseball-sleepers-draft-guide).

Expectations Are High in the Buchholz Household

Clay Buchholz: His future's so bright he's gotta wear shades!

The first time I interviewed Clay Buchholz (back in 2007), I asked him if he envisioned getting involved with a particular charity when he made it to the big leagues (a la Curt Schilling and his commitment to ALS).

Clay told me that he absolutely intended to be involved with charities, especially those involved in the fights against cancer and / or Alzheimer’s disease (which claimed the life of his grandmother).

St. Louis Cardinals Look to Sit Atop National League Central Again

The St. Louis Cardinals will look to repeat as National League Central champions in 2010. But to do that, it won’t be easy.

The Cardinals weren’t the only team in the Central to make moves acquire and key free agent signings this off-season.

The Brewers, Cubs, Astros and even the Reds made noise this off-season, all in hopes of chasing the Cardinals for the top spot in the division.

Below is how I see the NL Central shaping up, at least as we stand a little over a week before the first official spring game.

Strike Two: Barry Bonds' Wife Files for Divorce

The Associated Press has reported that Liz Watson, the estranged wife of former Major League Baseball player Barry Bonds, has filed for divorce.

St. Louis Cardinals Welcome Back Felipe Lopez

After an off-season full of speculation surrounding infielder Felipe Lopez signing with the St. Louis Cardinals, the deal finally became official on Friday.

The club agreed with Lopez on a one-year, $2 million contract with incentives on Friday, despite recent reports that the Cardinals weren’t looking to add another infielder before Spring Training.

Caribbean Cool: Atlanta Braves Preparing For Life After Chipper Jones

A rather subtle move occurred this week concerning the Atlanta Braves' future.

The move in question is the signing of 18 year old prospect Edward Salcedo of the Dominican Republic.

Salcedo, by trade is a shortstop and is touted as being one of the better international prospects in the game. When one watches this video , one can see Salcedo possesses a fluid and level swing capable of power.

Red Sox Stars: Dwight Evans

We honor Dwight Evans as the Boston Sports Then and Now Athlete of the Month. With the opening of the baseball season around the corner, the choice of “Dewey” Evans is fitting. He was a player who gave his all, all the time to the Boston Red Sox where he played from 1972 to 1990. He is one of the best players not in the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

Great In Eight: Blue Jays New Lose-To-Win Strategy

I'm not positive, but I think I'm having a nervous breakdown.

My significant other tells me that I've been talking—actually chanting—in my sleep. It's driving her around the bend. Can you imagine what it's like to be awakened from a sound sleep at 3:30AM by an old-age pensioner with swamp breath who's shouting, "WE'RE NUMBER THIRTY! WE'RE NUMBER THIRTY!! WE'RE NUMBER THIRTY!!!"

San Francisco Giants: Young Players Aren't Getting a Second Chance

When any self-proclaimed "die hard" Giants fans talk about their team for more than five minutes, the dismal managing duo of Bruce Bochy and Brian Sabean almost always comes up in the conversation.

And what is the biggest issue that makes this tandem of field manager and general manager so maligned by the fan base?

The biggest issue that irks the die-hards is San Francisco's inconsistency in giving young players a chance to pull out of an inevitable slump (for almost every young player not named Pablo Sandoval or Evan Longoria, slumps are bound to occur).
