The Latino Decade Leaders In MLB: 2000-2009

The 2010 season of Major League Baseball is to start in just a few days.

With the beginning of spring training, it is not only of a new year, but also a new decade.

To wrap up the debate that was, here is a list of the best Latinos of the past decade, the leaders for the years 2000-2009.

No Need To Worry On The Jeter/Rivera/Girardi Contract Situations

Work has kept me away from Bleacher Report for a couple weeks now, and I do apologize for that. But I am back with another topic for the Yankee section to talk about and discuss.

It was reported recently that Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman was not going to talk contract extensions with Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Joe Girardi before the season starts in 2010.

Relax, this is nothing new from the team. If anything, it's a good thing.

White Sox Owner Jerry Reinsdorf Better Stay Out of Chicago Cubs Business

White Sox general manager Kenny Williams is known for saying, "He better stay out of Chicago White Sox business." That was a reference to Frank Thomas commenting on the team when he was no longer playing for them.

Perhaps Kenny should tell his hypocritical owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, to stay out of Chicago Cubs business.

Carlos Guillen to Full-Time DH If Detroit Tigers Sign Johnny Damon

How ironic: The Man of Many Positions for the Tigers may soon be the Man of None.

If the Tigers sign Johnny Damon, as has been widely speculated, and insert him in left field, there doesn’t seem to be any place for Carlos Guillen to play—at least, no position that involves putting on a mitt.

Texas Rangers Prospect Danny Gutierrez Suspended 50 Games

Danny Gutierrez, named a “Rising Star” in the Arizona Fall League, has been suspended 50 games of the 2010 season after violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, according to the Office of the Commissioner.

Gutierrez tested positive for an amphetamine, a performance-enhancing substance.

Selected in the 33rd round by the Kansas City Royals in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, Gutierrez has had a couple stellar seasons, to say the least.

Phil Hughes Focused on Change

As a starter coming up through the Yankees minor league system Phil Hughes was pretty much a two pitch pitcher—fastball/curveball. Sure, he had a slider, and even a changeup, but the two pitches were works in progress at best.

Jim Rice Is Not a Baseball Legend

The month was January 2009. It was a simpler time, when unemployment was only in the single digits, Michael Jackson was still alive, and baseball awards were still predicated on RBI totals and Wins.

We can thank the latter of all that for the mistake that occurred: Jim Rice, in his last Hall of Fame ballot, was elected into the Hall of Fame.

He of magical, feared 128 OPS+ glory, like other feared players Ryan Klesko and Jimmy Wynn.

Yankees Set Sights on Cuban SS Adeinis Hechavarria

According to George King of the NY Post , the Yankees have set their sights on a Cuban defector, Adeinis Hechavarria , once he becomes eligible to be signed possibly as soon as next week.

2010 New York Yankees Roster Previews

As the 2010 postseason comes to an end we here at Bronx Baseball Daily have been running through the Yankees roster and previewing each player. We take a look at their 2009 season and what their 2010 expectations will be.

This is a very strong team that compares favorably to the 2009 World Champions so let’s take a look a bit closer. They certainly should be able to defend their title as long as they stay healthy.

We’ve covered 15 players so far:

Fantasy Baseball Profile: Will Corey Hart Never Surrender?

Aside from sharing a name with one bad ass Canadian '80s pop singer (kidding), Corey Hart also saw a promising career dry up. Of course, the baseball version can be attributed to injury, and a successful comeback is more than likely.

Hart quietly was one of the better all-around fantasy outfielders in 2007 and 2008 with the following lines:
