Jason Bay a Seattle Mariner? Not Just Wishful Thinking

Something caught my eye the other day while surfing the Internet—an interesting piece of sports gossip I had yet to come across.

This article said Boston Red Sox All-Star left fielder Jason Bay currently lives about 15 minutes from Safeco Field.

On the record, let me say that Bay is most likely staying with the Sox, who have a better record and a pair of recent titles compared to the Mariners' lack of a World Series appearance.

Arizona Diamondbacks: Facing Torture in the Pit of Despair

Arizona Diamondbacks’ seat relocation is an awful lot like the water-powered torture machine built by Count Rugen in the movie The Princess Bride. That machine was built to rob men of years of their life. It came with a lever that would allow the torturer to select how many years they wanted to take away from their victim.

The ALCS Is Set: New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

After the Yankees and Angels both completed their respective sweeps of the Twins and Red Sox yesterday, it was time to start looking forward to the American League Championship Series.  The series will start Friday night at approximately 8 p.m. EDT, and two of the American League's top teams will be pitted against each other.

Open Letter From Mark Attanasio

Today, the Milwaukee Brewers official site BREWERS.COM published the yearly letter from Brewers principal owner Mark Attanasio to fans.

I bring the letter to your attention and I hope to read feedback from the Bleacher Report Brewers community.

October 12, 2009

Dear Brewers Fans:

Constructing the ALCS Roster

The cool thing about the postseason is that teams that advance to the next round can adjust their roster, for whatever reason—maybe someone gets hurt, maybe someone is better against one team than another.

With the ALDS over, the Yankees can now construct their ALCS roster.

This roster will largely remain the same—the differences come down to basically whether or not, against the Angels, you want an extra pinch runner or an extra arm out of the bullpen.

Pain and Simple: Sox Offense Falls Woefully Short in Playoffs

It turns out we didn’t have to worry about the 25-year old rookie who started the game. Or the untested rook who first relieved him.

The real culprit was the strongest member of the strongest bullpen in baseball. He was there to shut one door Sunday and open another for Monday. Instead New England blinked and it was over.

Through The Eyes Of...The Bullpen Catcher

The following is part of a weekly series called "Through the Eyes of..."  In each segment, I share interviews with or stories about those who I view to be the "Good Guys." The men and women who participate in and are the very fiber that make up the great game of baseball.

"Through the Eyes of..." is a part of my personal crusade to present baseball in all its beauty, splendor, and goodness, instead of through hashing and rehashing all that is broken with our national treasure. TC

Philadelphia-Colorado: Awful Umpiring Helps Phillies Get the Call in Game Three

I would like to first off thank the inventor of DVR. It really is one of the best inventions ever. It allows you to watch shows, programs on sporting events on your time.

Last night I used this wonderful invention to record Game Three of the Philadelphia Phillies-Colorado Rockies series last night. With the game starting at 10:00 ET, there was no way I was staying up to watch this game.

I watched the first four innings last night, woke up this morning, and watched the remaining five innings. Truly fantastic.

Twins Loss Shows There's No Margin For Error For Small-Market Teams

To some, this photo shows you all you need to know about the Yankees-Twins playoff series.

You've got Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees' superstar third baseman and his $33,000,000 salary standing over Nick Punto, the Twins' utility infielder and his $4,000,000 salary.

Punto had just been tagged out after over-running third base in the eighth inning of the Yankees' series-clinching 4-1 victory in Game 3 last night. The combined 2009 salaries of of the three Yankees who combined to throw out Punto is $68,700,000.

Could Boston's Jonathan Papelbon Be Papel-Gone Before Next Season?

Jonathan Papelbon allowed two inherited runs to score in the top of the eighth inning in Game Three of the Best of Five series against the Angels. He allowed three of his own in the ninth inning.
