Miselis Edition: 2009 Top Baseball Prospects; Why The Sport Is Looking Brighter

Today, I will unleash my top 10 prospects heading into the 2009 Baseball Season.

I will give analysis on each player, and whether any of them will make an impact with their teams this season or in the future.

The only rule I have is to discard David Price and Travis Snider from this list, as they were in the Majors for a decent part at the end of the season and will probably make the roster on Opening Day due to their success...Enjoy!

The Official Manny Ramirez Era Dawns in Los Angeles

If you're a Dodger fan, which of the following are you thinking when you wake up these sunny Los Angeles' mornings?  After you've had your coffee and read the latest Manny Ramirez updates?

1.  Oh [expletive], Manny's hurt.

2.  Oh [expletive], Manny's already faking an injury to dog it.

3.  Oh [expletive], Manny's got an option after 2009 so we have to do this all over.

4.  Even if Manny only plays 100 games hard, we're still the favorites to win the National League West (as long as they're the right 100 games).

Red Sox Make The Right Choice, Cut Josh Bard

George Kottaras has won the backup catching job for Boston.

Bard's second stint with the Red Sox is over before it began.

In Spring Training, Bard has shown more of what got him traded the first time around: inability to catch Tim Wakefield's knuckleball.

On a side note, George Kottaras has proven to be able to catch the knuckler from Ol' Reliable.

Washington Nationals: Release of Shawn Hill a Sure Sign That Trades Are Brewing

In the past few days, the Washington Nationals have made several roster moves that, in and of themselves, don't make the team that much better.

What they do show, however, is that the new management team, led by de-facto general manager Mike Rizzo, believes the Nationals are going to be much better this year than any of us believed.

The biggest move came this morning as the Nationals released Shawn Hill, as talented as any pitcher on the Nationals' 40-man roster.

The San Francisco Giants' Quandary at Third Base

I recently wrote that the San Francisco Giants could possibly land Miguel Cabrera. You can read about it here

There would be a few obstacles to such a deal. Cabrera’s contract runs through 2015, and due to past busts on long-term deals, the Giants might be unwilling to make such a long financial commitment.

Come to Think of It: The 10 Greatest Hall of Fame Baseball Players of All-Time

Listing the 10 best Hall of Fame (HOF) ballplayers of all time is difficult enough; to actually rank them would be darn near impossible, so the following list is not intended to be in any sort of order. In fact, ranking Babe Ruth at number one is the only certainty I can imagine.

WBC: Don't Tell Me These Games Don't Matter—US Rallies To Top Puerto Rico

You can say all you want about how the World Baseball Classic is a waste of time.

You can say how only the Latin American countries and a select few others actually care who wins this thing.

You can say that it's basically exhibition matches.

Just don't tell any of that to the players on Team USA.

The "Best/ Greatest" Team Ever

I usually try to stay away from these kinds of articles but, after reading several "Greatest Team Ever" or "Best Team Ever" articles, I decided to write my own. Now, I know this I have only been around for 19 years on God's good green Earth so I do have a bit of bias towards today's players. But, all biases will be put aside and I will judge players based on career and other information.

New York Yankees: A Season to Look Forward to

<!--StartFragment-->

Who ever said money can’t buy happiness obviously never talked to a Yankee fan.

Should the Houston Astros Sign Pedro Martinez?

With the Astros signing Ivan Rodriguez this morning, it appears as though GM Ed Wade believes that the group he has assembled could be good enough to compete.
