Let's say there is a university going through a rough patch.

Previously, it was viewed as one of the best schools in the nation, and it pulled in billions of dollars in endowments. Teachers who succeeded there, would go onto academic fame and be set for the rest of their lives financially.

However, a teacher's strike in 1994 had ruined the university's reputation.

The public thought the strike showed that the university and its teachers only cared about the size of their bank accounts.

It's been a little over a day since Josh Hamilton was injured, and I've had time to think about how his absence in the lineup will affect the Rangers. There is no more "knee-jerk reaction" in this article.

Let's face it. Texas lost its reigning AL MVP after he carried them to the World Series.

Or did they?

Matsuzaka and the Red Sox should have seen it coming.  The answer was right there in front of them.  It was obvious to me. 

How did I know something that all of them didn’t?

Well, I saw the movie Mr. Baseball.

Am I joking?

When Will Your Team Pull the Trigger on Its First Trade?

While the year is just getting started, one of the most interesting storylines throughout the MLB season is the development of the trade market.

Though the deadline is not until the end of July, in recent years we've seen teams jump the gun on studs such as Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia.

Sparky Anderson was one of the managerial greats in baseball. In his storied career as a major league baseball manager, Sparky won two World Series with the Cincinnati Reds during the "Big Red Machine" era and won a third World Series with the Detroit Tigers.

Tim Lincecum is nicknamed "The Freak" for a reason, and this latest Red Bull video is further proof.

With one of only 50 cameras in the world that can follow a speeding bullet, the folks over at Red Bull decided to shoot Lincecum throwing a pitch at 1,000 frames per second.

The incredible part about Lincecum's motion is how far his arm extends behind his back before it catapults forward.

The Texas Rangers have a chance to prove something. 

They will be without reigning AL MVP Josh Hamilton for six to eight weeks after he broke his upper right arm sliding into home plate in the first inning of Tuesday's loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Tonight the Phillies will square off against former teammate and fan favorite Jayson Werth. On their way back home to Philadelphia, they stop off in the nation’s capital for a three-game set against the annual basement dwellers in the National League East, who shocked the baseball world last December by inking Werth to a mammoth contract.

If you watch Cleveland Indians baseball or "you are in the Tribe," then you know the Indians are on a hot start in 2011.

After winning eight straight, including sweeps of the Red Sox and Mariners, the Indians are looking like they want to take charge of an AL Central that is up for grabs.

So far this season, the Philadelphia Phillies have been good. Great, in fact. For some people, this isn't a surprise. After all, they have some of the best starting pitchers in the league. They also have some great hitters. This was all expected. So why am I writing this article?
