When Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik asked the Seattle fans to be patient with the rebuilding process, I decided to comply with his request. I vowed to sit back and wait to see if the Mariners showed any progress with hopes that things would be different this season.

When Seattle started out 2-0 I was optimistic the ball club was on the right path. Since then the Mariners are 2-10 and still can't score any runs. Same old story.

Alright, so that's not exactly the way Charles Dickens put it, in his Tale of Two Cities. Yet that's reality in Boston for fans of the 2-10 Sox these days.

After leaving Port Charlotte, their spring training home, baseball experts and fans thought the Rays would have troubles with their bullpen.

After their 0-6 start, baseball experts and fans thought they were just bad.

Manny Ramirez was caught doping again and retired after a week. Superstar third baseman Evan Longoria strained his oblique and is out for a few weeks. The entire lineup looked like the 2002 Devil Rays.

It just looked hopeless.

Make no mistake, the Chicago White Sox can easily run away from this division. However, if they’re going to put down the upstart Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians, they must find someone who can close out the game for them. They tried out All-Star setup man Matt Thornton, and it didn't work out so well.

The Beard.

We know it's power—power to intimidate and power to inspire.  The Beard was a big part of the 2010 San Francisco Giants and their World Series victory.  It spawned a whole new fashion statement for Giants players and fans alike.

But how long will it grow?

Well, isn’t it amazing what one week will do?

Since our last rankings, the Rangers have lost three games and their top slugger. The Indians went on a win streak, and Troy Tulowitzki is working on the early-season MVP award.

You know what I did yesterday? I wasted seven hours and a day off watching Mets baseball at Citi Field. That's right. I woke up early and took two trains just so I can sit and watch the Colorado Rockies pound the Mets into the ground in both games of a doubleheader.

Waste of money? Only $20.

Waste of time? Absolutely.
